Here is...

Beep, beep, beep. YAY the robots are finally working on my last session of robotics. I got my robot to run off light sensor on the special robotics mat.
The light sensor means you program your robot 'light sensor' and add lots of other detail to the programming then you download the program onto the robot and sit it on a black line on the mat and the robot will go on any black line it likes. Here is a photo of my programming.

Deep In Thought

I am trying not to write a BORING blog today because Nicola says I need to add more emotion to my writing. So. Here goes......

Today we started off with a game of chess. I played Joey but sadly I lost. Now I am coming 6th not 5th on the leader board. This makes me feel frustrated.
Then, we did our affective studies. I am doing my study on Joy Cowley. Next week I think I can start presenting all of my research. I am excited about this!
After that we had morning tea and then we did passion projects. I carried on with my Lino print of a boxer dog. He is cute and looks deep in thought.
Right now I am doing blogging.  But of course, you knew that, because right now, you are reading it!
Sayonara! (That's goodbye in Japanese)

GET OFF YOUR LAZY BABOOMBA

I wish we could carry on with Writer's Studio - it is sooooooooo fun. The best part is stalking people, writing what we think they are thinking and where they are going. Sadly it only goes for four weeks but even "Nicla" wants to keep it going!
Here is last week's story...
COPY STARTS
25,16,22,14,8,6 and bonus ball 12. ‘Oh my golly gosh I have just won Lotto!’ screeched the little old lady next door as she looked down at the winning ticket. I had front row seats from my bedroom to her lounge so I could see everything. Tears started to fall down her wrinkly cheeks. Then I saw her walk faster than she has ever before to her telephone. I couldn’t believe my eyes..... I had just witnessed a 96 year old woman win lotto!
Imagine it.  A boring life sitting on a couch with knitting needles stuck to your hands and one day you finally get off your lazy baboomba and push your walking frame to the lotto shop for her first time in 20 years and LUCK! COPY ENDS

Bully Proof kid

Welcome back to my blog Term 3 2013. Today at Enrich we FINALLY finished editing our MADE awards, "Commercial Bella the Bully Proof kid" It has came together much better that I thought it would!!! We have put in some special effects into it and we have also put in some voice effects e.g: Norton was on the phone so we put in a special voice effect so it sounds like she's on the phone. We also put in some titles and lucky last our credits. Now instead of worrying to get it finished my only hope is to WIN!!!  I learnt that it is a big process putting it all together but worth it in the end.

Typing is my worst enemy!!

YAY I'm finished my reflection FINALLY. That is why I haven't posted you anything for a few weeks.Anyway reflections are one of the worst parts of Enrich as they include typing, typing is my worst enemy. Today at Enrich we started filming our commercial Bella the Bully Proof Kid I had my amazing wand in my hand pressed the button ABRA-CADABRA-ALACAZOO I have just entered the world of Bella the Bully Proof Kid. I sat on my desk playing with my rubric cube and suddenly I received a phone call 'Hello Bella the Bully Proof Kid here where is your emergency?' It was very hard to keep a straight face especially when it's me! I'm a bit of a giggle-gert!!!

Acting out a clock!

PSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSTTT...
What am I talking about? I don't know!!!

Today at Enrich we did two types of Drama: 'Spacial Drama' and 'Psychological Drama.' Spacial drama is when you use the space around you to act something out.  We did an activity called "Ten Seconds".  In my group of 3, we would have to act out whatever Nicola called out.  Our best one was acting out a clock!  Psychological drama is when you have to think to figure the activity out.  We did an activity called "There's only one liar".  We sat in a circle, closed our eyes, and then Nicola went around and tapped someone on the shoulder.  Next, we would open our eyes, and then we had to point to the person we thought got tapped.  Nicola tricked us!  The first round, she didn't tap anyone!  The last round, she tapped everyone, but we all pointed at someone else, so we were all liars today!  After morning tea, we did talent development, which is MADE Awards. We edited our interview footage from last week. I named mine "Interview with Goat and Sheep" and in the end for the credits I put "Starring Travis as Goat and Charlie as Sheep", because Katie said we could be as creative as we wanted to be, but not too silly. Overall today, I learnt a lot about editing in i-Movie!!!

Lights, Camera, Action!!! Today for Talent Development we did some practice filming for the MADE awards. We practiced going smoothly, from side to side. Norton and I were partners so we had to work together to film Travis and Charlie  doing an interview with ten easy questions. Then we had to swap over so Travis and Charlie filmed Norton and I while we did an interview. After that we imported our footage to i-Movie and then we will edit it next week. I can't wait to crack on into our real filming for our advertisement of...Bella The Bully Proof Kid.

EXT and INT???

Do you know what a screenplay is? I didn't but now I do. Let me tell you about it. It's a very detailed piece of planning and we've been working on ours for the MADE awards for about an hour!  A screenplay is the writing of a movie.  It helps to detail where the scene is going to be filmed, what action is going to happen, and what is being said between characters.  We looked at a copy of "The Lion King" and we watched the opening scene and looked at the screenplay while watching - everything matched! We started on our screenplay for Bella the Bully-Proof Kid.  Here is a wee bit of it:

Title - “Bella the Bully-Proof Kid”
By - Norton, Rhylee, Charlie and Travis

Norton=  Luna
Charlie=Billy
Travis=BJ

SCENE 1

EXT Waihopai School

Three children are standing in a circle out in a school playground.  BJ looks mad, BILLY and LUNA looked terrified!  BJ is pushing at BILLY and LUNA.  The screen fades away as the title comes onto the screen. “ARE YOU BEING BULLIED?”

I don't want to give our story away, but we are making good progress!  Do you know what "EXT" means? It means the location for filming that scene is outside.  If it said "INT" that would mean it was being filmed inside!

Bella the Bully Proof Kid.

"What is your commercial going to be about?'' My brain started to think hard. I had lots of great ideas but as I was just about to blabber the best one out and then... crack my brain went blank. Beside me I had my workbook, my lifesaver. I pulled it up to me and saw THE BULLY PROOF KID. 'Yes' I thought. Then Katie sent us to do a picture plan. 'I want to be the bully proof kid' I said. 'I want to be a school student' said Norton. 'Same' said Charlie. That meant that Travis has to play the part of the bully!  I'm the bully proof kid. Katie asked me what my name should be and I said Bob, but she said 'Thats a boys name.' 'Then how about Bobbina?' 'That's a bit random!' she said. 'How about Bella?' 'Perfect' she said. So I'm Bella the Bully Proof Kid.  We are planning out how our commercial will go, so I will keep you posted!

We went to the ................

Splash we heard the waves screaming as we were walking along the beach with cameras around our necks. We were taking photos for the MADE awards. We took lots of photos of forming waves and shells, then we tried jumping off sand dunes and getting action shots. Then we got sidetracked and had to go. We had fun. I took a really pretty photo  that I will show you next week. My mum drove the tiny group of four and she stayed at the beach with us.

Today for talent development Katie, Travis, Norton and I went around the car park to take some practise photos for the MADE awards. Our theme today was 'ordinary objects, extraordinary angles'. It was very fun. There was just simple objects everywhere and we had to try and capture the object from lots of different angles. Below are my five favourite photos. Click them to enlarge them.  Can you guess what they are of?

They are ranked from FAVOURITE to 5th FAVOURITE!

MADE Awards...

Today was the first day we got to do either Talent Development or Passion Time. I chose Talent Development with Katie and we're doing the MADE awards which is a national technology competition. Our group has only four children! We're doing a static image and a commercial entry. We are going to the Oreti beach  to take some static images. We spent some time today planning out our commercial, but, we still don't know what the product will be yet. We have got a timeframe worked out so that we keep on track.  I will keep you up to date with our progress next time.

Queens Park

Today at Enrich we had an action packed day, Walking at Queens Park. It was awesome fun but also way to HOT.  At least it wasn't raining!  The whole point of the trip was because our focus or concept curriculum is "patterns" but I think some people forgot that the focus was patterns. We saw natural and man-made patterns at the bird aviary, We saw beauty, strength, order and survivability patterns everywhere in the park.  I saw a pattern on a tree stump that had recently been cut down.

The new newspaper

ENRICH@ILT IN THE CITY That is the name of the new Enrich newspaper we are starting at Enrich. It will come out twice each year to the Invercargill locals.Yes, one day we will have to be newspaper deliverers. Today we had to design a banner for the front page. Then, Nicola will choose the very, very best. Nicola also said it takes about two months to make a real newspaper, (which we are doing.)  It was very fun. Hopefully we will be able to continue next week.

Drama

"This is so hard!" I thought as I was playing a really fun game. You had to get the hoops around the circle. THUMP!  My hoop hit the ground. "Rhylee, you're out!" yelled Darryn. "Oh no!" I thought. That was the most fun, most confusing game ever. I kind of felt sorry for the people who had to keep going because it was so tiring. That was one of the three drama games we played today. The other two were called 'Musical Bumps' and the other was called 'I packed my bag and in it I put...'

See you next week.
